Will I like it?
Residentials: Entry 1
The day had finally come. I had waited for 2 months hoping that I would be prepared to face it on a moral and an intellectual level. Two months ago it seemed a long way off but now that the second of may had arrived it all seemed to have gone by so fast.
I never really looked forward to my labour room posting. It was called ' residentials '. It wasn't something I really enjoyed and one of those things I wanted to get over with before it even began. Nevertheless I decided to keep an open mind and subdue the voices in my head.
Our task was pretty simple and it's motives quite evident. We were expected to assist Obstetricians in conducting deliveries and also learn the art, during the process. Our job was to serve as not just students but as residents, who would blend in with the mechanics of the labour room workforce and inculcate the science behind the same into our inner fabric.
Okay! Enough of dramatic talk. Let me go straight to day one.
I was among the second half of my batch and we started with our night shift. Into the peace and quiet of the night we assisted in the birth of life as god had planned it to be.
My thoughts at the end of it:
1.My open mindedness did not help.
2. I couldn't fathom the amount of pain the mother went through.
3. I realised it was not so easy.
2. I couldn't fathom the amount of pain the mother went through.
3. I realised it was not so easy.
I managed to get 6 hours of sleep.
That was the only good part.
That was the only good part.
